IT'S NOT ABOUT US

Matthew 6:1-8
"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of people, to be seen by them.
Otherwise, you will have no reward from your Father in Heaven.
So whenever you give to the poor, don't sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be applauded by people. I assure you: They've got their reward!
But when you give to the poor, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites , because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. I assure you: They've got their reward!
But when you pray, get into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
When you pray, don't babble like the idolators, since they imagine they'll be heard for their many words.
Don't be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask Him."

Dear Christian teens,
How important these verses are! This crave for attention applies to many Christians, including myself. We truly want to look good and attractive in front of our peers that we take away the emphasis of God's love and majesty and apply it to ourselves.
Why do we do this? Why do we steal God's praise only so we can feel better?
Christians, I assure you, human praise will NEVER please us! Only for a moment, but that kind of happiness ends.
But if you will only look a little further, you will find a much more abounding, everlasting, joyful kind of love.
God's love.
You can make it known that you are the best, most wise Christian. That will never suffice.
There is a greater reward that our Father can give us!
Don't take for granted what He gives us and don't doubt His goodness.
Remember, all things are about Christ.
He deserves everything and we honestly deserve nothing.
But we still receive so much!
Let each thing that you do point back to Jesus.
Pray to Him, worship Him, thank Him.
Be in the world, minister to the world, but don't be of the world.

sincerely,
                 Sophie
